The Tsanyawa Local Government Council has opened a new security office for the Kano State Neighborhood Watch as part of efforts to strengthen security and reduce crime in the area.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Planning Officer to the Chairman of the local government, Abubakar Mai Daraja Yan’awaki. According to the statement, the Chairman of Tsanyawa Local Government, Abdullahi Ishaq Yan’awaki, led the commissioning ceremony, which was attended by security personnel and officers of the Kano State Neighborhood Watch.
Speaking at the event, Abdullahi Ishaq Yan’awaki called on security agencies to provide full cooperation to the Neighborhood Watch to ensure the safety of lives and property. He also urged the youths serving in the outfit to uphold honesty and integrity in the discharge of their duties, particularly in protecting the lives and property of residents of Tsanyawa Local Government, which has recently been affected by attacks from armed groups crossing in from neighboring states.
The initiative is expected to help curb criminal activities that have plagued the area, as well as parts of neighboring Shanono Local Government, which has also suffered persistent security challenges.
In recent months, the Kano State Government established the Kano State Neighborhood Watch as a security outfit aimed at addressing the security challenges facing parts of the state, especially Tsanyawa and Shanono local government areas, which have experienced repeated attacks by armed bandits.
