Lawyers under the Kano State Ministry of Justice have announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike.
The chairman of the association, Barrister Abdullahi Aminu Shamsu, disclosed this to journalists.
Barrister Shamsu explained that the decision to go on strike followed the government’s failure to pay certain entitlements owed to them.
He added that despite handling numerous cases—especially major criminal matters—and facing threats from individuals involved in those cases, their rightful benefits as lawyers remain unpaid.
The chairman noted that although they had previously met with the government over the issue, their entitlements have still not been settled. As a result, they resolved to begin the strike.
